Introduction of MKP Y2

Y2 Metallized Polypropylene Film Capacitors, commonly referred to as MPY/Y2 capacitors, are a specific type of safety capacitor designed for applications where the capacitor is connected directly to the mains supply and serves a protective function.  The Y2 designation indicates that these capacitors are safety-rated for use in applications where they are placed between the line (L) and ground (GND) in a mains power circuit. Y2 capacitors are typically rated for working voltages up to 250 VAC, 275VAC300VAC350VAC and are designed to handle transient overvoltages, ensuring safety by preventing electrical shock.

 

Metallized Polypropylene Construction: These capacitors use a polypropylene film as the dielectric material, which is metallized to form the electrodes. Metallized polypropylene offers excellent electrical characteristics, including low dielectric losses, high insulation resistance, and good self-healing properties. The self-healing feature means that the capacitor can recover from minor dielectric breakdowns by vaporizing the metallization around the fault.

The comparison between MKP Y2 and ceramic saftey capacitors Y2

1. Compared with ceramic Y2 capacitors, MKP Y2 capacitors is more stable capacity loss. In high temperature environments, the capacitance of ceramic Y2 will decrease and the DF value will also increase. Film Y2 is relatively stable;

2. The capacity of MKP Y2 can be high to 1.2uF, while the capacity of ceramic Y2 can only be up to 0.01uF;

3. The price of ceramic Y2 is a little lower than MKP Y2. The rated temperature of ceramic is higher at 125 degrees, vs MKP Y2 at 110 degrees. 

 

Main application of MKP Y2

Filters and interference suppression applications at high operating temperatures.Such as fast charging power supply, LED lighting, industrial control automation equipment, consumer electronics, medical equipment, new energy automotive electronics and other fields etc.

Storage Conditions When store under the atmosphere, the terminal may contact with the substance of hydrochloride, hydrosulfide, sulfuric acid, etc. in the atmosphere, which needs to be paid attention to the deterioration of the solderability of the terminal. Product could not be exposed to high humidity and high temperature environment. Please store under below condition with the original packing. A. Temperature: ≤35B. Himidity: ≤70%RH C. Storage period: Max 12 months.
